Campfires

We believe that a camping experience is enhanced by having a camp fire, which is why we encourage their use. There is always something quite mesmirising about flames and there is nothing better than sitting around an open fire when it is dark.

They not only provide a focal point for the evening's chatter, but provide warmth, comfort and security for when you can't see past the flickering light and wonder exactly what it could be making those straaaange noises! They are known as the "bush TV" in South Africa and its the only channel that we would hate to turn off!

There are designated fire pits throughout the site and all we ask is that you re-use an existing fire pit rather than starting them on new ground. Sustainable Firewood ia available on site for around £5 for a generous bundle and please, please do not collect any wood from neighbouring woods.

Firstly, the woods are teeming with wildlife and we would ask that their privacy is respected. Secondly and as importantly, as an organic farm, we are part of a national ecological initiative aimed at encouraging and protecting the habitats of various species and all things creepy crawlie. They are vital to the environment , to sustainable crop pollination and therefore to our organic future as farmers. We would ask that these habitats are not only left alone, but protected by you as well.
